Fundraising Ideas
Introduction
Thank you for considering fundraising for Friends of Antara UK. The following sections describe just some ideas and previous examples of how people have raised funds. We welcome new ideas but please do let our fundraising coordinator know - fundraising@friendsofantarauk.org. You can find appeals literature and fundraising materials in our resources section.
Sponsored Challenges
Sponsored challenges are a popular and effective way to raise funds for Friends of Antara UK and they are a great way to raise awareness too! Past examples of sponsored events include:
- Walks
- Running - 5K, Half-Marathons, Marathons.
- Swimming relay
- 24hr Movie Marathon
- Fast / Diet - A 24hr fast, a vegan diet for two weeks.
- Tree planting - In a local community green-space.
A good way to organise a sponsored event is to get friends or family involved and complete the challenge together.
Example sponsor-sheets and other fundraising materials are available in our resources section.
You can guide people to our donate page to sponsor you on-line and if you let us know about your event we will create a fundraising page for you. Oh, and let us know when you've completed the challenge and we'll report it in our news section.
Events
Another good way to raise awareness whilse fundraising is to organise a special event. In the past our supporters have organised:
- Art Exhibitions
- Music concerts
- Fire walking
- Meals and curry nights
- Club nights and bands.
Sometimes you can find out what events are being organised in your area and contribute with a stall or offering your time or services in return for a donation to 'Friends of Antara UK' (see also fundraising with a local group)
Selling Antara products
As well as buying Antara products directly from Friends of Antara UK, you can help us by finding shops or places to sell cards, jewellery and textiles. Alternatively you can sell products yourself on a 'sale or return basis'. We have sold products through:
- Fair-trade shops
- Cooperatives
- Other retailers
- Community groups
- Schools or universities
- Stalls at events
- Places of worship
Please see our shop section for more details or contact our products coordinator - products@friendsofantarauk.org
Fundraising with a local group
Friends of Antara UK is most active at the local level with individuals and groups organising activities to raise awareness or raise funds.
Instead of organising a one-off event, why not consider joining in with or setting up a Friends of Antara UK group in a university or your local area. In this way you may contribute to a sustained support for Antara's work.
Our local groups include those at Leeds and Warwick University. To find out what fundraising events they are organising see our news section or make contact.
